The Network
ChatX IRC Network is a non-profitable organization which its function is to provide chat service to users from around the world. This network is opened to everyone regardless of their age, gender, religious beliefs, political status.
The staff on the network are volunteers who dedicate their time in helping towards the network operations and other duties as assigned by the Network Administration. They do not gain any profits whatsoever and have offered their time to help the network.
The Network Administration
The network administration is headed by its founder; Area51 and its CEO drosdow. The Network's Order of Command can be derived in the following structure:
- Network Founder
- CEO
- Executive Board
- Server Administrators
- Support Teams
- IRC Operators
- Helpers
Please note that "Helper" is not an access nor does it mean that the user with such title is an IRC Operator candidate. They are volunteers who have been recognised with certain skills after completing relevant training modules and observation and recommendation of the Administrators.
User rights on the network
As mentioned in Section 1, the network is opened to everyone subject to the agreement of the policies outlined in this document. By connecting to the network, you have agreed to the policies and will abide by them in which failing will result appropriate action being taken.
A user can connect to any server on the network that is a leaf (accept client connections) in which it is his/her responsibility to read the server's Message of the Day (MOTD) which can be viewed by typing /motd. Your connection will be scanned for open proxies upon connecting to any of our servers. If at any point of time you have been auto-killed (disconnected forcefully by the server), please read the description given and contact the Abuse Team further assistance.
You shall not evade or attempt to evade any bans set. You are allowed up to a maximum of 5 clients per host. If you are connecting from a Local Area Network (LAN) or a cybercafe which requires more than 5 connections, please ask the Administrator to contact abuse@chatx.net. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to apply for trust.
The following activities are prohibitted under this section:
- Impersonating network staff
- Connecting more than 5 clients per host (except for exempted connections)
- Evade network/channel bans
- Harass users and staff
- File Sharing
- Mass advertising/inviting
- Connecting open proxies
- Fraudulent activities
- Commercial Gains (unless approved by the network administration)
- Distributted Denial of Service (DDoS) Attacks against the network/users
User rights to services.*
You may register your nickname using NickServ and channel using ChanServ subject to the availability of the nick/channel (not registered by someone else). Please note that although the service is free, mass nick and channel registration for the purpose of preventing others from registering them or to sell/trade are not allowed.
You will not impersonate or claim yourself to be a service whatsoever to deceive users into giving you their passwords. Users are reminded that the network staff will never ask for your passwords and they should never be disclosed to anyone. If a user loses his/her nickname or channel password, contact a Services Administrator (a list of Services Administrators can be viewed by typing /motd services.*) for password help. Please note that the retreival of the password is subject to the admin's discretion.
The following activities are prohibitted under this section:
- Mass nickname/channel registration
- Impersonating services
- Stealing passwords or attempting to steal
- Channel Takeovers
- Selling/Trading of nicknames/channels
- Flooding services
Network copyright/ownership of contributions and submissions
ChatX IRC Network staff and users are free to create and submit their contributions and work for the network at anytime they wish to subject to the following clauses:
- All submissions given must be created by them genuinely and not the work of others (no copyright infrigement).
- Submissions will be owned by ChatX IRC Network (copyright under ChatX) but credit will be given where it is due.
- Upon resignation or termination of your oper status (applicable to opers only) and/or you choose to leave ChatX IRC Network (users/opers), you will agree that no copyright claims can be made against ChatX in regards to your contribution and/or submission. However, credit will be given.
ChatX Staff Policy
The following are the rights and responsibilities of a ChatX staff:
- Keeping yourself updated
- Work as a team
- Behave in a professional manner

- keep themselves updated
- active on teams and help other staff members out
- help users
- generate ideas in developing the network
- enforce policies by following them
ChatX Staff members don't...
- abuse their power
- act in a biased manner when enforcing policies (impartial)
- use profanity
- violate network policies
Network Disclaimer
While the network administration tries its best to ensure the safety and welfare of its users, the network accepts no responsibility to any mishaps, fraud or personal, reputational damage on the Internet or in real life whether related to the network direct or indirectly. By connecting to ChatX or any part of its service, you agree to the clause that you will not hold the network responsible for such.
